Dr. Roy Price has many years of experience pastoring in the C&MA. Many of us have known him for years, and have benefited from his knowledge and wisdom. A favorite preaching topic of his over the years has been the book of Romans. Now he has written a compilation of those messages in a format that can be well-used as a study guide for small groups, or even an up-to-date practical commentary for today's preachers. If you're going to be studying the book of Romans, Roy's book is a must-have. Thank you Roy for being a great example of how God continues to use us over the long haul!
On April 27, 2019 we made history as we welcomed Guam into the Central Pacific District!
Guam Christian Alliance Church has been working through the process of joining the Alliance for about a year. A Mandarin speaking Chinese church of about 60, GCAC joins us as the 20th Chinese church in the CPD.
As we look back at Encounter 2019, we are again reminded of what a special time together we had at the Central Pacific District. As you watch this highlight video, may you be reminded about what God did at Encounter 2019 in your own heart and be encouraged!
It was a time of reconnecting, reflecting and repenting; a time of mourning with those who lost everything in Paradise, and a time of hearing what the Lord is going to do; a time of pressing into the presence of the holy spirit; a time of prayer, healing, and much, much more...
We wanted to share a few photos, prayers, and testimonies from our precious time together. Check them out below!
If you attended Encounter 2019, we encourage you to share your testimony in the comments below, or email the district office so that we can record and share what the Lord has been doing in and through his people of the Central Pacific District.
"Witnessing the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts and lives of Muslim people...the transformation of people from darkness to light."
From time to time we'll be highlighting members of our CPD family to get to know them better. The questions and answers below are from an interview with Pastor Raed Awabdeh at The Arabic Church of Sacramento, in Sacramento, CA.
"I don’t know about the future, but I do know that right now I am where I should be."

Christmas Eve was a historic day in Paradise, CA as they had the first large-scale public gathering since the Camp Fire with the theme, "I'll be Home for Christmas." Paradise Alliance Church received special permission to open up the church for the three services which ended up totaling about 4,000 people in attendance, with pastors from numerous churches in the community, all representing the whole "church" of Paradise. The water is still not potable, and PG&E brought in special gas tanks to heat the building, but the services went on as a tribute to the HOPE God is inspiring in Pastor Josh Gallagher and our church family there.
While the news coming out of Paradise and Chico has slowed down, efforts to help our CPD churches here have only ramped up. Our C&MA family across the nation has mobilized prayer and resources on an unprecedented level. We're also seeing support from non-Alliance churches as God prompts them with this great need.
While Neighborhood Church in Chico is no longer being used as an evacuation center, NC Chico is still housing our Paradise Alliance Church. Now that we're past some of the initial chaos, I thought it would be good for you to hear directly from Josh Gallagher, the new pastor at Paradise Alliance Church.
On a regular basis we have been introducing you to our CPD workers and their families. When we went to send our next one out, we realized it was Josh and Erin Gallagher of Paradise. We were speechless at the timing. But even with everything that has taken place [as a result of the Camp Fire], we wanted to follow through and introduce you to a family that while suffering great loss in their first 3 months in the CPD, are nevertheless leading this church with compassion and excellence even while scattered.
"The Rising has been a safe place for those exiting the Mormon faith to learn about Jesus Christ in a very different environment than they are used to."

In October 2017, Garett Lane & Chris Balint (NC Chico youth pastors) had the privilege and opportunity of going on a scout trip to the C&MA base in Mexicali. They got to spend just a few days with these guys but instantly knew we couldn’t wait to partner with them. Chris shared with the team that he knew the service projects, Vacation Bible School, etc. would all be amazing, but he was equally as excited for our team to rub shoulders with Gil and his crew. They model Jesus well, as they serve and bless those who visit the base.
After months of planning and preparation, the end of June finally arrived. We loaded 61 of us up early on the 24th and headed for the border. We made it by dusk and prepared to cross over. Gil and his crew were there to greet us, and we lined our vans up along the streets of Mexicali as we waited for our cargo van to get through. It was bit of an adventure navigating Mexicali at night, but eventually we made it to the base. We ate tacos at 10:00 at night (we told you these guys are amazing!), and headed for bed.
We were excited and expectant for what we knew we’d see the Lord do over the rest of this week. Many on our team had never been out of the country or on a mission trip of this type. It was awesome to see the youth anticipating what would come.
