Alliance Redwoods is Reaching Youth in Local Communities

Alliance Redwoods Environmental Science Scholarship has been set up to help transform the lives of underprivileged children and at-risk youth from local public schools.

Since 1946 Alliance Redwoods has been about changing the lives of low-income children, foster youth, and at-risk youth through hands-on science education consistent with grade appropriate common core standards in a spectacular outdoor setting under the towering coastal redwoods.

They promote both personal growth and significant academic gain in natural science by providing an E.P.I.C. (Experiential, Participatory, Immersion, and Connected) environment to achieve transformational results.Alliance Redwoods gathering

Each year, the 11 schools in the Woodland School District have a choice between attending two camps: Alliance Redwoods or Sly Park. This is a Sacramento, CA area school district saying that Alliance Redwoods is one of their two camps! This is amazing news!

The Need

These public schools are doing their best to operate within their financial means. The school district pays for the students and chaperones out of its own coffers and individual schools also do some fundraising through PTA funds for their general fund. Unfortunately, there was a budget shortfall this year.

The school district has asked Alliance Redwoods if there is anything it can do to mitigate costs. It understands that Alliance Redwoods is at “market rate” for camp in the Bay Area. Even at the full price, there are still plenty of schools that are going to continue to choose Redwoods over Sly Park at their full price season, as well as during the discounted months of November-January - because the school district loves Alliance Redwoods!

How You Can Help

Alliance Redwoods Environmental Science Scholarship has been set up to help transform the lives of underprivileged children and at-risk youth.

The goal is for every child to experience both personal growth and academic gains in natural science and to retain the benefits of the outdoor education experience when they return to their school and community.

We can't do this without you! Over 30% of the kids need a $150 scholarship to attend Alliance Redwoods. Your generous financial partnership and a gift of a scholarship will change a life, opening up the world of natural science to low-income and at-risk youth who might not experience outdoor education without you!

Go to the Donate page on Alliance Redwoods website and under "Local Scholarship" choose the Loren and Bea Berry Scholarship Fund.
