From the heart of the District Superintendent:
Don't Be Distracted -- That seems like a hopeless mandate in our ever increasingly busy and full world and lives. The other day I came across Acts 6:2 once again where the Apostles said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the Word of God in order to wait on tables."
Notice what that is not saying. It is not saying that waiting on tables is bad or beneath them. It is saying, "We know what we are called to, and we need to stick to that. We don't want to be distracted by other good or urgent things...that we are not called to do."
I don't know about you, but I am SO easily distracted! (I think part of having been a church planter!) I immediately sensed I should be focusing on the role He has for me in this ministry and in this season. And with that comes the questions, "What am I doing that I should be giving over to others -- or just not doing?" "Who should be a part of that picture?"
In this season of ministry I want to be as effective as I possibly can. That will only happen as I listen to His voice and take the intentional steps to follow what I hear. How about you? What are you hearing in your season? Maybe even before that -- are you putting yourself in a place to hear? Taking the time, drawing close, allowing Him to speak?
May you rely on Him completely in all you do!
Thank you for being a part of our team, and allowing us to be a part of yours!
